In an interview ahead of the release of the Essex album, Alison revealed the disintegrating and chaotic relationship between herself and her record company’s A & R department: She got a call from her A&R man saying that for the US release it was vital that three tracks from Hoodoo were remixed. When she asked what songs, he replied with two songs and ‘Falling’. So she immediately phoned Pete Glenister to say “We’ve got to write a song called ‘Falling’ really quickly because it’s getting remixed next week!” “They were getting me to remix tracks that didn’t exist. So Pete and I wrote that song and now it turns up on the new album” (Essex).
