One of British television’s biggest shows, BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, has featured a classic Yazoo track (with added Kraftwerk).
Opening the show’s Week 10 Results Show, Strictly‘s professional dancers – including Oti Mabuse, Graziano Di Prima, Karen Hauer and Katya Jones -surprised viewers with a group number to Yazoo‘s 1982 hit, Don’t Go.
Ahead of the performance, the pro-dance’s choreographer, Nikki Trow, commented: “This week we’ve taken Strictly into a futuristic world. The whole studio will be like a robot lab where Dianne [Buswell] will be creating these robots.”
Australian profession dancer Dianne confided during rehearsals: “This number is completely foreign to us ballroom and Latin dancers. It’s very poppy and locky and hip-hoppy.”
This is not the first time that the music of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke has featured on the hugely-popular, flagship BBC show.
In the Strictly semi-final of 2020, Janette Manrara and popstar HRVY performed and enchanting rumba to Yazoo’s Only You – a dance that help professional Janette get her to her first final in her eight years on the show.
